Addressing a spiritual mourning ceremony held at Hosseiniah Jamaran, Hojjat al-Islam Dr. Ali Komsari further said that Imam Khomeini was pursuing mere divine goals and objectives throughout the struggle for the Islamic Revolution.
The reputed scholar said that the best role-model from Ashura movement had occurred here in our country where Imam Khomeini led the revolution to victory by inspiring from Hosseini movement.
The movement which pursues divine goals deserved to be called the holy and sacred and that is why the revolution has always been a highly respected and sacred phenomena.
Komsari said that the eight-year long defense during the imposed war had been also sacred because we resisted the world arrogance.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Dr. Komsari said that one of the major objective of Imam Hossein (‘a) movement had been the revival of the highest grades of the divine principle of “enjoining good and forbidding evil”.
The remarks come as Millions of Shia Muslims in Iran and elsewhere across the world commemorated Tasua on Sunday, the ninth day of the lunar month of Muharram, which precedes Ashura, the day when Imam Hossein (AS), the third Shiite Imam, was martyred.
During the first ten days of Muharram, Shiite Muslims around the world commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Today, the ninth day of Muharram (Tasua), millions of people, dressed in black, took to the streets and mosques across Iran to mourn the tragedy.
The day is devoted to Abbas Ibn Ali (AS), the half-brother of Imam Hussein (AS) and the flag-bearer of Imam Hussein's caravan. Abbas was martyred while he tried to bring water back to the camp of the Imam for the thirsty women and children who had been left without any water for days due to a siege by the enemy.
As one of the most important days in the Islamic calendar, Tasu'a is the day of loyalty and resistance epitomized by Abbas' sacrifices in the battle of Karbala.
Muharram is one of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar because of the sacrifices that were made by the family of Prophet Muhammad to establish the message of humanity. The first ten days of the month hold the most significance during which the battle took place. The rituals around the world during these ten days differ with local traditions and customs, but lamenting over the martyrdom is common everywhere.
