The grandson of Imam Khomeini visited the South African Embassy in Tehran in order to pay tribute to the great African leader. He also wrote his remarks in a memorial book especially placed at the embassy for dignitaries to leave their expression about the great personality of our recent history.
The approximate translation of Seyed Hassan Khomeini's message comes as under:
In the Name of God the Almighty
The passing away of Nelson Mandela, the antiapartheid leader and former president of South Africa is a great loss for the country, the whole continent and the freedom seekers of the entire world.
His Excellency’s kind heart, both during his imprisonment at Robben Island or when he gained power, was free of hatred and prejudice.
The deep and emotional ties of late Mandela with the founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini has persuaded several to show a great amount of respect for the African leader.
His departed soul may rest in Heaven.
Seyed Hassan Khomeini also met South African Ambassador to Tehran William Max Whitehead and expressed his condolences on this occasion.
Recalling the great legacy of Mandela, the grandson of the founder of the Islamic Republic said that he had met him in Tehran and during a visit to South Africa’s largest city Johannesburg and has had great memoirs from these meetings.
